Is There Physical Evidence of Giants? The Nephilim, the Archaeology, and Divine Technology

The short answer

Start where the ground is solid: the Bible treats giants as a matter of record, not legend. It names their clans, gives their territories, records their heights and even describes a bed frame by the cubit. Whether the physical archaeology has been suppressed is a separate question — one researcher L.A. Marzulli has spent decades on, and he brings receipts to this conversation. And along the way he raises something most believers have never stopped to consider: the Scriptures describe technology, and not all of it belongs to the enemy.

First, what the Bible itself says

Before any photograph or excavation, settle this: Scripture is not shy about giants.

  • The spies report in Numbers 13:33 — "There we saw the Nephilim... and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers." Ten men lost their nerve over what they saw, and it cost a generation the land.

  • Deuteronomy 2 and 3 read like a field survey — the Emim, the Zamzummim, the Anakim, the Rephaim, each with its territory and its former name. Og king of Bashan is described down to the dimensions of his bedstead, roughly thirteen feet by six.

  • Amos 2:9 says of the Amorite, "whose height was like the height of the cedars."

  • Goliath's armour is itemised in 1 Samuel 17, and 2 Samuel 21 lists four more giants of Gath killed by David's men — one of them with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot.

That is not folklore vocabulary. It is the vocabulary of a census. So the honest starting position is not "did giants exist" — the Bible has already answered that — but "what happened to the evidence?"

The Catalina Island photograph

Marzulli's central artefact is a photograph he says he found in the archives of the Catalina Island Museum, taken by an amateur archaeologist working the island around 1919–1921. It shows a man kneeling beside a skeleton in the ground that Marzulli says three separate analysts measured at roughly nine feet. It appears in his book On the Trail of the Nephilim, and he says the History Channel later used it.

The detail he puts weight on is what came next. Returning to the museum with his late partner Richard Shaw, he says the version of that same image on display had been cropped — the skeleton removed from the frame. In his telling, he was never meant to find the original; he paid for archive access, the collection had already been picked over, and he hit it within the first hour.

That is his account, and we report it as his account. It is the kind of claim that stands or falls on documentation — which is exactly why he publishes the images rather than describing them.

The stonework nobody can explain

Marzulli has filmed at Machu Picchu, Sacsayhuamán and Ollantaytambo, and his argument there is refreshingly concrete rather than mystical. The standard account credits the Inca with cutting and fitting enormous andesite blocks using copper tools. In footage he shows, a man takes a brand-new copper chisel to a block of andesite, strikes it once, and the chisel point is blunted.

His conclusion: whoever shaped that stone was not using copper, and the accepted explanation is therefore wrong. He reads the megalithic layer as pre-flood construction — what he calls fallen angel technology and others have called cyclopean architecture — and points out that at several of those sites the structures are not merely ruined but violently thrown down.

He also notes the water-erosion argument around the Sphinx and the ongoing scanning work reporting structures beneath the Giza plateau, which he has interviewed the researchers about directly. Those findings are contested in the scientific literature; the chisel demonstration, on the other hand, is something anyone can watch and weigh.

The Roswell metal — and the moment he refused to overstate it

On camera he holds up a fragment of metal he says was recovered eight inches down in the Roswell debris field and filmed coming out of the ground. Under a scanning electron microscope, he says, it sits between two known aluminium alloys but matches nothing on file.

Then something worth noting happened. Pastor Chris said, "It's not earthly" — and Marzulli stopped him: "We don't know that yet. That's a leap." That single correction tells you more about how to handle this material than any artefact does. A researcher willing to police his own conclusions in real time has earned a hearing. Hold his evidence the way he holds it.

The best part of the conversation: divine technology

This is the section to take to your Bible study, because it is pure Scripture and it will change how you read familiar passages. The point is simple: ancient writers described what they saw using the only vocabulary they had.

Take 2 Kings 6. Elisha is surrounded by the Syrian army and his servant panics. Elisha prays, "Lord, open his eyes" — and the young man sees the mountain full of horses and chariots of fire. Now consider the writer's problem. The apex of transportation in his world is a horse and cart. His only light sources are fire and oil lamps. He looks up at something airborne and luminous and reaches for the two words he has: chariot, fire.

And these are the Lord's. Which is the whole point — the heavenly realm has its own capabilities, and they were never the enemy's to begin with. Watch the pattern repeat:

  • Genesis 3:24. Adam and Eve are driven out, and God places cherubim and "the flame of a sword which turned every way" to guard the way to the tree of life. Read it carefully: the cherubim are not holding the sword. It turns by itself.

  • Ezekiel 9. Six men come with what the text calls slaughter weapons, and a seventh with a writer's inkhorn who marks the foreheads of those who grieve over the city's sin.

  • The Urim and Thummim set in the high priest's breastplate — stones through which answers came.

  • The Ark of the Covenant, which was not a symbol. Touch it wrongly and it killed you.

None of this makes God a technologist or heaven a laboratory. It makes the point in the other direction: what we call technology is a shadow of capability that already existed, and the enemy's version is a counterfeit of it. Which is why Marzulli argues the fallen need craft at all — to move in and out of this dimension — while the Lord simply opens a young man's eyes.

Sorting the entities — again

Marzulli lays out the same three-tier structure we have taught here before, and the agreement across independent researchers is worth noting. The fallen angels are the rebels themselves. The Nephilim are their offspring. Demons are the disembodied spirits of that offspring — which is why, in his framing, what the church loosely calls demons are more precisely Nephilim spirits, and why they seek a body at all.

His view on the reptilian and grey phenomena follows from that: an entity that speaks telepathically and vanishes is a fallen angel taking a form, not a giant; the greys he treats as biological housings rather than beings in their own right. That last point is his reconstruction and not a biblical statement — keep the categories the Bible gives you and hold the rest loosely.

If you want that sorted straight from the text, we did it verse by verse here: Watchers, Nephilim and Demons: What Genesis 6 Actually Describes.

Why this isn't academic for me

I don't teach this from a shelf of books. Before I came to the Lord I was deep in new age practice — kundalini work, astral projection — and what I understand now is that I was channelling, with no covering and no blood over me.

I had an encounter with a being that spoke to me telepathically. I could not resist it. It directed me to my car, and it was waiting in the passenger seat. It talked to me about the sun, the moon and the stars, and hours disappeared — I came back to myself at three in the morning when someone knocked on the window, and it was gone. Sightings followed me for a long while after that.

I came to Yeshua at thirty. There were months of hard warfare after that — I won't dress it up, it was brutal. But from the time that broke until today I have not had a single encounter, and the Lord has used me in deliverance ever since, here and travelling.

One thing I have learned doing it: deliverance is not a magic trick. Some people get set free and walk straight back into the door they came out of, then decide it didn't work. It worked. Yeshua told us plainly that the spirit returns and finds the house empty, and brings seven others (Matthew 12:43–45). Freedom has to be occupied. That is the whole reason this ministry pushes community and discipleship instead of one-off encounters.

And hear the good news in it: none of these things has any authority against the blood of Yeshua. None.

How to handle material like this

Three rules keep you steady. Anchor on Scripture — the giant clans are in the text, so no photograph is load-bearing for your faith. Attribute claims to whoever made them and let their evidence carry its own weight. And test everything (1 Thessalonians 5:21; Acts 17:11), including us.

There is a real danger in this field, and it is not that you will believe too much. It is that curiosity replaces obedience — that a believer ends up an expert on the enemy and a stranger to the Lord. Knowledge of the fallen has never delivered anyone. The blood of the Lamb has.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Bible say giants were real?

Yes, repeatedly and specifically — Numbers 13:33, Deuteronomy 2–3, Amos 2:9, 1 Samuel 17 and 2 Samuel 21, with clans named and territories given. Whatever you conclude about modern archaeology, the biblical record is not ambiguous.

How tall were the giants in the Bible?

Goliath is given as six cubits and a span — around nine feet nine inches in the Masoretic text, with some manuscripts reading closer to six feet nine. Og's bedstead in Deuteronomy 3:11 is nine cubits by four, roughly thirteen feet by six.

Has a giant skeleton ever actually been found?

Researchers including L.A. Marzulli present photographs and records of oversized remains, most notably his Catalina Island archive photograph. Mainstream archaeology does not accept these as verified. No specimen is on public display, which is precisely the dispute.

Is the flaming sword of Genesis 3:24 a real object?

The text describes a flame of a sword turning every way, set alongside the cherubim rather than held by them. Whatever it was, Scripture presents it as an actual guard on an actual place, not a metaphor.

Are UFOs mentioned in the Bible?

Not by that name. Scripture does describe airborne, luminous and structured things — the chariots of fire of 2 Kings 6, the wheels of Ezekiel 1 — and in those cases they belong to the Lord. Modern sightings are a separate question the Bible does not settle.

Can a believer be harmed by these entities?

They have no authority against the blood of Yeshua. Where believers get into trouble is through open doors — occult practice, channelling, unrepented sin — and the answer is repentance, the Word, and covering in community, not fear.
