The Missing Years: What the Hidden Chronology of the Bible Says About How Close We Are
Updated: Oct 3
The short answer: Pastor Chris teaches that about 210 years were left out of the traditional Hebrew calendar. When they are restored, the count is not in the 5,780s but in the late 5,990s, at the very edge of the year 6,000. Scripture's pattern of six days of work and a seventh of rest, a day being as a thousand years, the 120 Jubilees of Genesis 6:3 and the prophets' witness that Messiah comes at the change of the millennium all point the same way: we are at the end of the sixth day, and the reign of Messiah is near. No one knows the day or the hour, but we can know the season.
Why the year matters
The traditional Jewish calendar counts the years from creation, and when this episode of The Shift Connection was recorded in early 2025 it read 5,785. If that count were correct, the year 6,000 would still be more than two centuries away. But Pastor Chris and Josh show why that number cannot be taken at face value, and why it matters so much for understanding the times we are living in.
Pastor Chris says this is not taught in most churches, Christian or Messianic, because most people accept what they are told without examining it. Scripture says to study to show yourself approved. That is what this teaching does: it scrutinizes the timeline so that believers can see how close we really are.
Where the missing years went
The traditional count comes largely from the Seder Olam Rabbah, a second-century Jewish chronicle attributed to Rabbi Yose ben Halafta. Pastor Chris shows where it departs from the historical record:
The Persian Empire: the Seder Olam gives it only 52 years, but history shows Persia ruled from Cyrus the Great in 539 BC until 330 BC, more than two centuries.
The First Temple: the traditional count dates its destruction to 422 BC, while the Babylonian records and the biblical timeline place it in 587 BC, about 165 years earlier.
Israel in Egypt: Exodus 12:40 says the children of Israel lived in Egypt 430 years, yet rabbinic tradition counts only 210.
Pastor Chris teaches that, taken together, about 210 years were removed from the count, and that it was done deliberately, so that people would not calculate when the Messiah would come. If the timeline is altered, every prophecy tied to God's time cycles is pushed back, and people think they have far more time than they do.
Daniel's countdown to Messiah
Daniel 9:24–27 is one of the clearest messianic countdowns in Scripture: from the command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there would be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks, weeks of years. Yeshua arrived exactly when Daniel prophesied. Pastor Chris teaches that a shortened history throws that timing off, which is one reason many have missed that the Messiah already came.
And Daniel's framework does not stop at the first coming. Pastor Chris teaches that when Daniel and the prophets speak of the end of the age, they point to Messiah's coming at the change of the millennium, the year 6,000. Read together with the rest of Scripture's pattern of time, that is exactly what the prophets mean.
Six days, then the Sabbath
Psalm 90:4 says a thousand years in God's sight are like yesterday, and 2 Peter 3:8 says with the Lord a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day. Pastor Chris teaches that the six days of creation picture six thousand years of human history, and the seventh day, the Sabbath, pictures the thousand-year reign of Messiah. Revelation 20:4–6 says the saints came to life and reigned with Messiah a thousand years.
He also traces it through history: about two thousand years from Adam to Abraham, two thousand from Abraham to Yeshua, and two thousand from Yeshua to today. Six thousand years. And he connects it to Yeshua's promise of resurrection on the third day, echoing Hosea 6:2: "After two days He will revive us; on the third day He will raise us up." Two days of a thousand years each since Messiah came, and then the day of resurrection and rest.
The Sabbath itself is part of the message. Pastor Chris notes that it is a perpetual covenant, and that Yeshua will keep it during the millennial reign. If He will honor the Sabbath then, how much more should His people honor it now, as a day to draw near to Him.
The 120 Jubilees
God also counts time in Jubilees. Leviticus 25:8–10 commands Israel to count seven Sabbaths of years, forty-nine years, and to consecrate the fiftieth year, proclaiming liberty throughout the land. Debts were cancelled, slaves set free and land returned to its families. Each Jubilee was a shadow of the ultimate Jubilee, when Messiah restores everything.
Genesis 6:3 says, "My Spirit will not strive with man forever, for he is flesh; his days will be 120 years." Pastor Chris teaches that this points beyond a human lifespan to 120 Jubilees: 120 times 50 years equals 6,000 years, the end of the age. With the missing years restored, we stand at the close of the 119th Jubilee, and the 120th marks the transition into the seventh millennium. He points out that Yeshua began His ministry by proclaiming the year of the Lord's favor, the language of Jubilee (Luke 4:16–21).
The 6,000 years of human rule will end, and Messiah will reign for the next thousand years, which to Him is one day.
Putting it together
When the 210 years are added back to the traditional 5,785, Pastor Chris counts the year as 5,995 at the time of this recording in early 2025, about five years from the year 6,000, around 2030 on the Gregorian calendar. The year 6,000, the 120th Jubilee and the end of the sixth day all converge.
Josh asks the question every believer should ask: what about "no one knows the day or the hour"? Pastor Chris agrees. Yeshua will come like a thief in the night, and no one knows the day or the hour. But He told us the season. Nation rising against nation, famines, pestilence and earthquakes are the birth pains, and like birth pains they intensify until the moment of delivery. Before the seventh day begins, the final events must take place: the Great Tribulation, the rise of the Antichrist and the fulfillment of the end-time prophecies.
No time to be lukewarm
Pastor Chris is serious about this because salvation is serious. Yeshua is not returning as He came the first time, preaching on the hills of Galilee. He is returning to judge the nations and bring justice. This is a season of separation, when God is dividing the wheat from the tares.
Revelation 3:15–16 is the warning: "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am about to spit you out of My mouth." This is the time to be fully surrendered to Yeshua, the risen King who is coming again. Matthew 24:42: "Stay alert, then, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming." Do not take Pastor Chris's word for it; open the Scriptures and search it out for yourself.
Frequently asked questions
What are the missing years in the Hebrew calendar?
Pastor Chris teaches that about 210 years were left out of the traditional count, which comes largely from the Seder Olam. It shortens the Persian period to 52 years and dates the First Temple's destruction to 422 BC instead of 587 BC.
What year is it according to this teaching?
Adding the 210 years to the traditional 5,785 gave 5,995 when this episode was recorded in early 2025, about five years from the year 6,000.
What is the 6,000-year pattern?
Based on Psalm 90:4 and 2 Peter 3:8, the six days of creation picture six thousand years of human history, and the seventh day pictures the thousand-year reign of Messiah (Revelation 20:4–6).
What are the 120 Jubilees?
Pastor Chris reads Genesis 6:3 as pointing to 120 Jubilees of 50 years, totaling 6,000 years, with the 120th marking the transition into Messiah's reign.
Is this setting a date for the Lord's return?
No. No one knows the day or the hour (Matthew 24:36), but Yeshua told His people to know the season, and the signs show we are in it.
